Good Morning. My name is Madeline Kraemer and I’m running to be Vice President of the United States alongside Amanda Brosgole as your next President. America is a beautiful country where independence is preserved and the people make the greatest differences in the world. Amanda and I strive to help keep this bold nation the free country that it is.
As a person, I feel that I have many strengths. I am compassionate, as my strongest drive is the desire to always lift people’s spirits and make sure they’re in a status where they can live happy and healthy. I have valiant determination that urges me to refuse giving up until I achieve my goal. Even if it means making a compromise or branching out multiple paths for different scenarios, I always make sure to own a well-structured plan to cover any possible issue that may press forward. In 2013, my grandmother was diagnosed with stage three lung cancer in her left lung and stage one in the right. She lived in Stamford, Connecticut which meant at first having her live with us and by the end traveling back and forth to be able to attend Winthrop Hospital for chemotherapy and cyberknife treatment. She recently passed away on January 4th, 2018. Through helping my mother and grandmother throughout her battle of cancer, I have learned to acquire he traits of humility, endurance and patience. No matter the circumstance, I strongly believe that I want to be the one that’s always here for everyone as vice president.
Much like myself, President John F Kennedy was a compassionate person who wanted to unify the country and help those in need. During Kennedy’s presidency he created the Peace Corps which is a volunteer program run by the United States government in an attempt to provide assistance for struggling nations. The Peace Corps, amongst many acts and policies put in place during Kennedy’s presidency, is a prime example of America’s willingness to help people. Part of America’s willingness to help people came through when we went to Afghanistan. We initially went because we were making an effort to combat the Taliban and stop terrorism. Seventeen years later we are still fighting to stop the war on terrorism but now we see that the Taliban are killing innocent civilians. American troops are focused on helping Afghanistan restabilize and make sure their corrupt government doesn’t fall. We have been and will continue to protect the Afghan people and are still fighting to win the war on terrorism.
President Kennedy did a great job at unifying the country through his heartfelt speeches, which reminds me of how we need to work together in this time of severe polarization unification is so vital to our country. The more polarized the country is the weaker we are and the more susceptible we are to foreign invasion and threats against the country. Also if the nation is divided it’s more difficult to agree on any acts or laws if the nation is so divided as it currently is. “United we stand, divided we fall.”
I believe that as your vice president, my running mate Amanda Brosgole and I will unify the country. I was student from Mepham High School, like you. I understand your concerns and dislike of standardized testing and with me as your vice president I will make sure that standardized testing is not how kids are evaluated because they are unfair and aren’t a good reflection of a student’s intelligence. Like President Kennedy, I will do everything I can to ensure that graduation rates go up and the rates of students who dropout of school go down. John F Kennedy said “A child miseducated is a child lost”. If we don’t change standardized testing and stop letting students learn material simply to pass a test rather than to increase their knowledge then we are miseducating students.
As your vice president I would ensure that America becomes an even stronger, more united country. I will do my best to increase the standards of education, and protect our country from any threats, and uphold American values. Because together, we can show the world how fortunate we are to be Americans.
